Just a short drive from downtown St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, Anastasia State Park boasts direct, private beach access on a lively park. Most sites on the large campground are tucked away behind heavy foliage, which allows for privacy, as well as some much-needed protection from that hot Florida sun.

Best known for its packs of roaming, wild horses, this beachside gem provides well-maintained facilities on a calm shoreline that is great for summertime swimming. Though this campground is the priciest choice on our list, most visitors think that the unique camping experience makes the extra expense well worth it.
It’s hard to believe that this peaceful campground is just miles outside of bustling Cape Cod. Myles Standish State Forest boasts a large range of hiking trails, as well as Barrett Pond, which is a must for those who want a clear water fishing adventure. For an even more memorable camping experience, take advantage of the nearby stables for some picturesque, forested horseback riding.
